Volunteer/Support

Volunteer Positions

We know that many members have skills that can benefit PGS-MN. We welcome you to volunteer in any capacity that meets your time and expertise. Please consider one of our many opportunities. If you are interested in helping us, contact us at pgsminnesota@gmail.com and someone will get back to you with more information.

PGS-MN Board Positions

PGS-MN Board positions have two-year terms and we frequently have positions open when individual board members finish a term. We welcome you to apply for a position. This is a great way to learn the details of the overall organization, and the other Board members would be happy to orient you to the role.

Committee Positions

The following PGS-MN Committees are always open to new volunteers:

Program Committee

This committee plans the six Program Meetings each year and there are several ways you can help – helping to brainstorm potential topics, finding speakers, developing flyers for the programs, setting up the room on the day of the program, introducing speakers at the beginning of the program, or sending thank you letters to speakers.

Website Committee

The website committee maintains the PGS-MN website and volunteers are welcome to offer ideas for new content, write new content, find photos to add to the website, periodically review links in From Poland to MN to ensure they are still active links, and provide input on website structure. The co-chairs do the actual entering of information on the website so that is not an expectation of committee members.

Newsletter Committee

The Newsletter Committee publishes four newsletters each year and opportunities include sharing ideas for content in the newsletter, writing articles, finding others to write articles, proofreading newsletter drafts before they are published, or general ideas about design of the newsletter.

Events

We participate in community events over the year by having a table/tent with PGS-MN promotional materials. Some events are in the metro area, and some are in smaller communities across the state. We are always looking for volunteers to help identify community events to participate in as well as staff the table at events.

Make a Donation

Please consider making a donation to further our goals of preserving the family and institutional history of Polish ancestry and heritage. The Polish Genealogical Society of Minnesota is a 501.c.3 non-profit organization and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Donations can be made via PayPal, credit card, or by mailing a check.
