PGS-MN and Pommern Regional Group (PRG) Joint Program

Finding My Kowalski Family, from West Prussia to America
Speaker: Janet Savelkoul Mitchell, PRG Member
The speaker’s grandmother was born in West Prussia and emigrated to America in 1903. Based on information provided by her grandmother, the speaker used many record groups to find the entire family and several generations backwards in time to 1793.
Localities, maps, research repositories and record groups used are detailed in the presentation, including ancestral locale changes to Pomerania and Poland. Surnames researched both in Europe and America are also discussed.
Stanley Kusz – Whose Military Were You Really In?
Speaker: Jim Neuenfeldt, PRG President and PGS-MN Member

- How it compared to the stories he was told by family members.
- How it relates to Pomerania and areas that relates to today’s Poland.
- How he researched different types of Prussian military photographs, which could be helpful to other genealogists.
