General Genealogy
- Ancestry The largest for-profit genealogy company in the world, Ancestry holds billions of genealogical records for hundreds of countries. They also provide a service for DNA testing. Ancestry provides tutorials, tips and tricks on genealogy. There is a cost for membership or you can visit the William J Hoffman Library to access it free of charge.
- Cyndi’s List Cyndi’s List is a clearinghouse of over 300,000 genealogical websites broken into hundreds of categories.
- Family Search The largest genealogy organization in the world that is part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Their online holdings include billions of records from country around the world spanning centuries. There are tutorials and downloadable documents to assist with genealogy research. Family Search is free but you have to register with an active email address.
- My Heritage My Heritage is similar to both Ancestry and Family Search, which allows users to start their own family tree, and has unique record collections. My Heritage also offers DNA testing.
